"Everything starts with an idea"
Everything starts with an idea, but how are ideas born? I believe they don’t originate here in this plane. They float in the air until someone intercepts them, and if that someone doesn’t turn them into reality, they keep floating around. What’s curious is that on that winter day in 2017, the idea of trekking in Nepal was floating around my house, and I caught it—or maybe it caught me. The truth is, my tourist visa in Australia was about to expire, and I needed to find a new direction.
I had previously thought about returning to the place that awakened my wanderlust, Hawaii. I had even renewed my U.S. visa for that purpose. But I can’t say the idea of going to Nepal was floating around my house by chance, as some time ago, a friend from Tucumán who does trekking had already been there. In my mind, the concept was already formed.
One way or another, I grabbed my laptop, searched for tickets, and started traveling in my mind, in my dreams. Then I shared the idea at home, and it turned out that two of my flatmates loved the idea and joined the odyssey without a second thought.
There was just one issue to resolve: if we left on the date I had planned, one of my friends, Manu, would have only 12 days to complete the adventure since he needed to enter New Zealand by then or risk losing his visa. It was risky, but not impossible.
